Our History
One of the major advantages of the Candypress cart is the ability to modify and extend the code.
We have provided the following information to let you get to know us, and our ability to provide you with a working solution, a little better ...
DALE HAFFENDEN:
I Started out in 1981 (I'm a lot younger than John) writing basic software for the TRS-80 and Commodore Vic20 and have been playing with computers ever since. In 1984 I joined Telecom Australia (Australia's biggest telecommunications company) where I developed Employee Tracking Software using dBase III.
Since then I've developed software in Delphi for many projects from Public Announcement Software to Web Server Image Components to Customised Job Tracking Programs.
In 2000 I moved into the eCommerce industry when I developed my first online shopping cart. Since then I've done a number of sites but now use CandyPress for all my shopping carts.
It wasn't long before I was modifying CandyPress to do exactly what I wanted it to do.
Areas Dale has worked in...
- MS Access
- MS SQL
- MySQL
- Paradox
- dBase
- Delphi
- Visual Basic
- ASP
- PHP
- HTML
- XML
- Javascript
- VBScript
(As Dale kindly pointed out, i am the "old one")
Much of my experience comes from a "hands on" situation of developing solutions to real life situations. By being able to relate directly to a real life situation and then apply a software solution, has contibuted greatly to my success over many years.
This moved into computers in 1976 as an advisor to a programmer on the creation of a new Inventory Management software package to control a large inventory.
(You have to remember that these things did not exist back in the "old days")
This forced me to learn "programming" quick to get the package I had purchased to work the way it should (my first MOD)
The resulting Inventory Management Software turned into a 10 year business that has many customers still using my last release of the software.
Around 1994 I became very interested in the internet and began my first internet / web design based business.
The business (Net Exposure Australia) is still going and provides Web and Software Design, Marketing and Hosting Services.
Thow into the mix a 2 year stint as a teacher (Inventory Management & Marketing) the eCommerce field seemed tailor made for me to work in.
